Grantham Sunrise Rotary Annual 200 Club: Terms and Conditions

The name of the lottery is Grantham Sunrise Rotary 200 Club Lottery.

Grantham Sunrise Rotary (GSR) 200 club is a small-scale lottery and is a way of raising funds for good causes from members and friends of Rotary. The lottery runs each month from the 1^st of December each year to the 30 November the following year. 50% of the sales goes to local good causes and 50% goes to winning tickets and £50 to administration (including the SKDC lottery licence). The tickets are £5 each.

Members of the club or group buy and sell numbered tickets which go into a draw – 200 tickets for a 200 club (hence the name). The tickets are randomly drawn at the first GSR club meeting of each month and those holding the same numbered ticket win a prize. When a draw is made, a percentage of the profit is given as a prize and the remainder goes to a charity or good cause – normally the purpose of the club or group.

The prizes are: – December special 1^st £100, 2^nd £50 and 3^rd £30. Other months are:- 1^st £40, 2^nd £20 and 3^rd £10.

The Legalities

GSR 200 club is run under the rules for private society lotteries. A lottery has three essential ingredients:

• Payment for a ticket is required to enter the draw
• There are always three prizes each month
• Prizes are awarded purely on chance. Funds are raised for good causes and are not run for private or commercial gain. Rules set out in the Gambling Act 2005 are followed and a licence is obtained from South Kesteven District Council.
• Tickets can only be sold by, or on behalf of GSR. A ticket is provided. Each ticket is sold at the same price and the rights created by the ticket are non-transferable. Tickets must be paid for before anyone receives a ticket.
